Mission
Bringing Compliance Closer.
~Towards a Safe, Secure, and Sustainable Society~
Today’s bad actors are becoming more and more sophisticated. Financial crimes, fraud, money-laundering, terrorism, human & wildlife trafficking and other high crimes continue to negatively impact the way companies – and societies - do business.
Regulations to prevent bribery, financial crime, terrorism and weapons of mass destruction globally are getting stricter year by year. Regulators are demanding effective controls, not just formal checklist controls. This is because it is becoming increasingly clear that formal controls fail to detect crime and cause significant damage. Crime in recent times has developed into something that involves many human lives. It is also not just a problem among humans, but crimes such as money laundering through the illegal trade in wildlife that can have a significant impact on ecosystems.
Of even greater concern is that many of these companies may not even be aware that they can be complicit to these crimes, thereby posing a huge risk to their business and reputation.
However, it is not easy to create an effective compliance management system. Regulatory guidelines require a significant level of control and while compliance management is something that companies must do, many companies do not allocate enough resources to it because it does not generate revenue.
CDL helps companies to achieve a high level of compliance management with such limited resources, using Data, Technology, and Knowledge.
We strive to make advanced compliance management accessible to many companies and contribute to building a safe, secure and sustainable society where crime is less likely to occur.
Our Vision
Using Data to Manage Compliance
To become the No. 1 solution provider for data-driven compliance management
A proactive, risk-based approach is essential to achieve successful Compliance management outcomes. The risk-based approach is a method whereby risks are first identified and assessed (rather than conducting the same checks on all customers and suppliers). Risk reduction measures are then focused on customers and suppliers that are deemed to be high-risk. Internationally, the risk-based approach is positioned as the cornerstone of risk management.
However, this risk-based approach is a major challenge for Japanese companies. The main challenge is the lack of unified, accurate and sufficient data to identify and assess risks. As data is the basis of analysis for the risk-based approach, insufficient, duplicated or inadequate data means that risks cannot be accurately identified and assessed, and therefore appropriate risk mitigation measures cannot be taken.
Our team and our technology enables our customers to achieve effective, efficient compliance management through the implementation of a data-driven risk-based approach. We start with the identification and curation of data for risk identification and assessment based upon which we build effective compliance management with limited resources and at the lowest possible cost. We are on a mission to become the No. 1 solution vendor for data-driven compliance management.
